Murshidabad silks
When I started researching Bengal silks for the Asian Art museum exhibit “Crafted by Hand”, I came across the provenance of murshidabad silk.
It was like discovering hidden jewels in our own back yard. People worldwide, the Dutch, the English, the Portuguese had come to Bengal to whisk away this fine fabric. Tipu Sultan had sent his emissaries to learn the craft, which spread all over India.
The silk is a very fine mulberry silk, that is woven in Murshidabad. It is dyed using natural dyes. The texture of the silk is smooth and it has a natural sheen. You can smell the flowers that the motifs were inspired by, hear the birdcalls, step into grand edifices of Muslim architecture.
Delivery and Returns
USPS Priority Mail 2-3 Day Shipping is $15. If the product can't fit into a priority mail medium flat rate, then additional charges will apply as shipping charges will be based on the weight of the package.
